GST refund estimator for exporters of services
Exports of services under a Letter of Undertaking are zero-rated, so input GST builds up. Estimate how much, and how a refund releases it.
Your estimate
Input GST building up each month
Each year
Refund claim per period
Provisional refund (90%)
Average cash tied up
Interest if delayed (6% a year)
Illustrative estimate, not tax advice. Refunds must be claimed within two years of the relevant date and depend on reconciled returns and export evidence. GST refund claims are handled under a separate engagement.
How the refund works
- File the Letter of Undertaking each year so exports of services are zero-rated.
- Reconcile GSTR-2B to your books every month; only credit that matches can be refunded.
- Claim the refund of unutilised input credit within two years of the relevant date.
- The law provides for 90% of the claim as a provisional refund within 7 days of acknowledgement, which is normally issued within 15 days.
- The final order is due within 60 days of a complete application; interest at 6% a year applies to delay beyond that.
