US SaaS company: from incorporation to first clean close

Situation

A US software company planned a Hyderabad engineering centre and had no India finance team. Its controller needed India books that fed a US GAAP close on working day 6.

What we did

  • Sequenced incorporation, PAN/TAN, GST, IEC and Non-STPI registration so the first remittance had a certified export route.
  • Mapped the India chart of accounts to the US group reporting pack and reviewed the SAP India configuration.
  • Signed a cost-plus services agreement and issued the first intercompany invoice with zero-rated GST under LUT.
  • Ran a dry-run close before the first month-end, then the first payroll, TDS deposit and GST returns.

Outcome

  • First close delivered on the agreed working day
  • Every statutory filing in the first year made on time
  • Input GST credit reconciled monthly and ready for refund

UK fintech: taking over a function after a resignation

Situation

A UK fintech's India entity lost its only finance manager in month nine. TDS returns were due in three weeks and two GST returns had gaps against GSTR-2B.

What we did

  • Took over books, payables and the compliance calendar within two weeks under a documented handover.
  • Reconciled GSTR-2B to the ledger, corrected vendor master data and identified credit at risk under the 180-day rule.
  • Filed the pending TDS return on time and rebuilt the 13-week cash forecast for parent funding.
  • Documented every process so the parent could later hire in-house if it chose.

Outcome

  • No missed statutory deadline during the handover
  • Vendor master cleaned so TDS categories stopped repeating errors
  • Parent finance team received a monthly MIS pack again from the next month

German engineering group: moving to the new EDF regime

Situation

A German group's Hyderabad centre had filed Softex through STPI for years. With the EDF replacing Softex from 1 October 2026, it needed a new monthly process and clean realisation records.

What we did

  • Agreed the EDF process with the AD bank and confirmed purpose codes for each type of remittance.
  • Cleared historical unreconciled export entries before the switch.
  • Set up a monthly consolidated EDF filing with FIRC/e-BRC reconciliation.
  • Linked export evidence to the GST refund file so refund claims had the documents officers ask for.

Outcome

  • First monthly EDF filed and reconciled
  • Historical export entries closed
  • Refund file supported by certified declarations

Scenarios are illustrative composites used to explain our approach. Outcomes depend on timely inputs and approvals from the client.
